MIT OpenCourseWare Launches iPhone App for Video Lectures

MIT OpenCourseWare has just announced the launch of their new OCW LectureHall iPhone app. The new iPhone app brings a social, more interactive viewing experience for MIT’s OCW videos for you to enjoy anywhere.

The app was built in collaboration with Irynsoft LLC’s, and uses their VIRT2GO platform to provide Facbook integration, forum capabilities and the ability to rate and review individual videos. One of the handiest features of the application is the ability to download video for offline viewing. You can get MIT knowledge dropped on you while riding the T everyday — despite being underground without service. You can also take notes and conduct web searches while watching the video directly on the app.
“The new LectureHall app provides a multidimensional experience for iPhone users,” says Stephen Carson, OCW’s External Relations Director. “Instead of simply watching the video, users can discuss the content and enhance their understanding with related materials.”
